privaTE Yoga Therapy

From September 2023-May 2024, I will be looking to work with folks online for my final practicum of Yoga Therapy training with Yoga Therapy International. I will be offering my services at a heavily discounted rate and will also offer sliding scale options in order to make this work accessible to whomever needs it.

The only equipment required to receive private sessions is a device to use zoom and access to wifi.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A PRIVATE YOGA THERAPY SESSION?

All clients in this practicum would receive a series of 4 one-on-one sessions, totaling 4.5hrs. The plan of these sessions would be:

  • 1st session (1.5hr): we review your Self-Assessment together and determine the goals of your practice. We might do a short practice at the end of this session.

  • 2nd session (1 hr): begin learning 1st half of your practice

  • 3rd session (1 hr): review and learn 2nd half of your practice

  • 4th session (1hr): review entire practice and answer any questions

After receiving your initial 4 sessions, you have the option of scheduling “Follow Up” sessions. These sessions can be used for:

  • questions relating to your practice

  • support in reviewing your practice

  • adding new elements to your practice

  • designing a new practice based on where you’re at, what has changed for you and/or what you want to keep working on

WHAT ELSE CAN I EXPECT?

Prior to your first session, you will be asked to fill out and submit a Self Assessment Form.  This will be the foundation of determining where you are at and what you would like to work on.  During your first session, we would review and discuss your Self Assessment which will inform what I offer in terms of designing a practice for you.

You will also be required to sign a liability and consent form as well.

In order to help clients remember their practice and to revisit it independently, I will traditionally notate your sequence (see image below) and I can also provide recordings of our zoom sessions, should that be of interest to you.

A tiny example of traditional Practice (Px) notes you will receive as a private client

If you are used to the flow of a Power, Vinyasa or Hatha Yoga class, you might find this lineage of work a bit more slower and mindful.  I personally find the approach of this work is much more subtle and has great potential to support the mind and emotions than the versions of Yoga I was first introduced to and/or have had class experience with.

Yoga Therapy also values itself as an accessible form.  This means we might get creative!  The use of chairs, walls, props and even at times getting off the mat can all be a part of the Yoga Therapy experience!  But there is no need or pressure to go out and buy any props and/or equipment.  The whole point of this work is to meet you where you’re at and use what you have access to.

GROUP CLASSES

Registration is now open for The January Series!

The January Series is a concentrated week of online yoga classes, January 8-12, 2024, designed to nourish your body, mind, and spirit. My intention in offering these classes is for all of us to lay a foundation for our relationship with ourselves as we embark upon another lap around the sun.

I will be combining my love of Hatha and what I have been learning from Yoga Therapy in the design of these classes.

All levels and humans are welcome.

Inspired by the Niyamas, each class will gently touch on the theme of each Niyama to help us to refine our relationship with our internal world.

  • Monday-Saucha (Cleanliness)

  • Tuesday-Santosha (Contentment)

  • Wednesday-Tapas (Discipline)

  • Thursday-Svhadyaya (Self-Study)

  • Friday-Isvara Pranidhana (Surrender to a force bigger than you)

Each day, class will be 60 min from 8.00am-9.00am via zoom.

I will also record each class, so if you can’t attend a class (or any) live, you will have access to the recording. Each participant will have access to all class recordings for the week.

The January Series is being offered on a voluntary pay-what-you-can basis.  Your contribution allows me to continue these offerings and to keep refining my practice in order to facilitate this work. If you are facing any financial barriers, please do not feel any pressure to contribute.
